UPDATE. Have you noticed that your spending more when you go out shopping or to eat out on the town? are you paying extra Rupees for something that has always been affordable and now you’re just scraping thru? I went to Chilis for my favourite club sandwhich a few days ago, wondering if the prices have gone up like everything else in Bangalore. To my surprise the menu prices haven’t changed. Chili’s wont budge! QUOTE: “We are keeping our prices the same, we want our customers to be happy!” i was very happy even though I went in after the lunch rush, it was soooo packed, now i know why. Awesome!

GREETINGS Outsidein surfers! Hey, I’ve got to let you in on something. Have you ever gone searching around for a gym to workout in, and your confronted by staff as they desperately use their sales pitch to force you to join, assuring you that you won’t find better equipment or cheaper membership rates. Then out of nowhere they start preparing the paperwork for you to sign up and you haven’t even seen inside yet?! Then after some persuading, you’re taken on this F1 Grand Prix tour as they quickly present their pride and joy, as your hair is almost ripped from its scalp, your going so fast.
But as I catch a glimpse and pull my eyelids down from the g-forces, I notice the gym equipment is unsafe, it’s falling apart, the photo advertised on the pamphlet has been googled from an overseas gym website and completely opposite to what they’re offering. Space is limited, weights are from 1970’s, no one wipes down the machines, instructors have no idea how to instruct, the personal trainer is 10 times overweight telling his client to stop eating. The sauna is a 38 degree hot day in a tin box out back and the AC is an open door. …Keep Reading »

Introducing to you an Authentic Chinese Cuisine, MANDARIN TRAIL offers a quality that will meet your expectations. I took my family to Mandarin Trail for lunch and I was really impressed with the layout of the restaurant. It is authentic in every way, the buffet lunch was extraordinary, the service was wonderful, the presentation of Mandarin Trail made you feel like you were, well, in China. It did bring back memories of when I visted Hong Kong & ate in a similar restaurant. So i guess you could say, the Trail has lead all the way to Bangalore India. Its a great place for a romantic evening or business lunch or just call in before or after your shopping in Mantri Square Mall.

Located on the busy Old Airport Rd. also in Koramangala and Kamanahali, Papa John’s Pizza has made it’s debut into Bangalore. The pizza is true to it’s American counterpart, complimenting their pies with their signature pepperchinnis and garlic butter sauce. Other items to note on the menu are their salads, chicken strips, and garlic bread sticks. We’re really glad to see real pepperoni. …Keep Reading »

We all know that the saree is one of the most beautiful Indian outfits. The only problem is that if you haven’t been practising for about 20 years then it’s going to be really hard to tie. believe me, I know. Wrapping a saree can take hours and when you think you have the pleats all arranged the right way, something messes up and you have to start again. If you don’t wear it right, locals, who are your friends, will point it out. That’s why Bangalore tailors have come up with the genius idea of ready-made sarees (should we mark this as a momentous occasion in history?). I’m not talking about the stiff polyster kind that you’ll find in a department store. I mean, you pick out your own saree material and design and the tailor will stitch it onto a petticoat for you and voila! A saree that is no more a hassle to …Keep Reading »

Passing through the Leela Palace today we encountered enormous amount of security. Frankly it makes the palace a bit cumbersome to get to, but we admire their efforts. We were redirected through a one way drive through entrance, asked to exit our vehicles and walk through a metal detector then re-entered our vehicle and parked. While in the Palace there was single entry and exit to the galleria. We did feel very safe and secure while shopping and looking around. So just be at liberty to visit, shop or relax. Another notable addition was a 3 story tall Christmas tree. Deck the halls!

Are you an avid reader? Like a book a day? No doubt that habit will cost you a pretty penny over the long haul. That is, unless you buy from Bookworm on MG Road. Kind of looks like a hole in the wall, but if you’re willing to mine or just ask the owner he will fetch you any popular fiction, classic or NY Times Best Seller for a fraction of the cost. I usually buy my favorite titles for $3 or less. …Keep Reading »

Fabric spa… Sounds nice doesn’t it? Located at the Mantri Mall, Here’s what they promise…If you are too busy for laundry, this company claims to be a “world-class wardrobe care solution”. Their website is busyeasy.com, but I was busy trying to get them to deliver their promise and there was nothing easy about it. I signed up as a member and had my clothes picked up for cleaning on a Friday morning. They promised a 48 hour turnaround, the clothes were to be delivered Sunday afternoon, it’s Thursday morning and there is no delivery, so I’m calling and calling to get them to deliver. Bottom line? More of a hassle than a help. If you are looking for something easy because you’re busy, think twice before calling FabricSpa. …Keep Reading »

Shanghi Salsa is the name, but except for the “Salsa” part you wouldn’t know that this is one of the few places in Bangalore to get a good beef burrito or soft taco. Wow, they know carne asada, pico de gallo, guacamole… the whole enchilada (no pun intended). I’ve not come across anything in Bangalore as close to decent Mexican food in this price
